A growing community
Sheffield’s LGBT community is growing leaps and bounds in the city and surrounding areas. With events occurring across the city there are plenty of things for the LGBT community to do both during the day and nighttime.
The highlight of the Sheffield LGBT community’s year is the Sheffield Pride March and Festival held in July 2018. This is a 2-week long event jam packed full of live music, marketplaces, stalls, the Sheffield Pinknic (picnic in the park for the entire family) and many other events, including the Pride Parade and the Students’ Union Pride After Party held at Climax.
Dempsey’s Bar holds regular quiz nights in their ground floor location with drinking and partying available upstairs. Open until 2 a.m. every night of the week. Sunday carvery, Dempsey’s is open to everyone until 9 p.m. After 9 p.m. is for members only. Children welcome until 5 p.m.
Climax at Sheffield University’s Students’ Union holds a LGBT night once a month which is open to both students and non-students on those nights.
Local and thriving
Out Aloud is Sheffield’s very own LGBT choir made up of members of the LGBT community. Performances are held periodically. While always on the lookout for new talent there is currently a waiting list to become a member of the choir.
There are also a wide range of organizations, clubs and groups catering specifically to the LGBT community that meet on a regular basis. While Sheffield may not be the huge metropolis other cities claim to be its LGBT community is thriving.
